Brunswick is a town in the South West of WA, situated along the South Western Highway between Harvey and Bunbury. It is within the Shire of Harvey and is approximately 165 kilometres south of Perth. A drive from Perth takes just over 1.5 hours, and only 25 minutes from Bunbury.
Brunswick is known as the ‘Cream of the South West’ because of its dairy farming heritage, and has a large Friesian cow (nicknamed Daisy) standing proudly in a park in the centre of town. With Peters Creameries most notably producing milk products and cheese from nearby dairy farmers.
The town also has a rich pioneering history evident throughout their local museums. Today, much of its yesteryear charm still shines through as you stroll along the main street, passing the old shire hall, railway cottages and the Catholic and Anglican churches which date back to the early 1900s.
Venture to the northern end of town and join the locals for a refreshing dip in Brunswick Pool or a picnic by the Brunswick River on the shady lawns. Barbecues, toilets, gazebos and a playground make it a perfect spot to spend a lazy afternoon.
When springtime comes around, the community is buzzing with activity as the town plays host to the largest one-day agricultural show in rural WA – The Brunswick Agricultural Show. The show attracts over 15,000 visitors each year with fashion parades, trade exhibits, arts and crafts, and flowers on show.
Brunswick has two primary schools within a kilometre; St Michael’s School and Brunswick Junction Primary School. High School options include Hope Christian College, Our Lady Of Mercy College and Australind Senior High School which are about a 5- to-12-minute drive.
The population of Brunswick is estimated to be 1,116. Of the families in Brunswick, 52% were couple families without children, 32.4% were couple families with children and 11.8% were one parent families.
Annual growth of the suburb is sitting at 10.7%.
