Mirrabooka is approximately 12 kilometers north of the Perth CBD, and its local government area is the City of Stirling. The early stage of development of the suburb was originally an extension of Girrawheen and Nollamara, then rapidly expanded with the subdivision of bushland, on which housing developments were built.
Location and ease of travel is a big factor when deciding where to set up a home, and there are plenty of options if you choose to live in Mirrabooka. There are many bus routes from Mirrabooka Bus Station that will take you to Warwick and Stirling Train Stations, as well as into the Perth CBD. The local bus route can get you to the city in under an hour, or if you prefer to drive, you can get there in a speedy 20 minutes. The METRONET project for the Morley – Ellenbrook line will see a train station in Morley and Malaga built, which will make train access even easier for residents in Mirrabooka. The project is expected to be completed in late 2022.

Here, there are many sports to be played, with courts for hire as well as several function rooms that can be made available for meetings, training or even award ceremonies. You’ll never be short on ideas to be active with plenty of recreational activities nearby, there is the local Rollerzone skating rink, and in neighbouring suburbs, there is the Stirling Leisure Centre, Perth Ice Arena for ice skating, and the Summit Rock Climbing gym.
There are a few great shopping options nearby, with the local Mirrabooka Square Shopping Centre providing you with many of the staple stores, and major shopping complex Morley Galleria only a 15-minute drive away. Here you’ll find all the major retailers and approximately 300 specialty stores, plus a Greater Union 8-cinema complex to catch the latest flicks.
There is a long list of public and private schools within the suburb and on the outskirts, so you have plenty of options when deciding on the best school for your children. Some of the local schools include Boyare Primary School, Dryandra Primary School, John Septimus Roe Anglican Community School, and Mercy College. As far as tertiary education goes, Mirrabooka is right in the middle of four great campuses. Stanley College offers certificate and diploma courses, Edith Cowan University and the WAAPA are just 10 minutes away, and the North Metropolitan TAFE in Balga is just a 3-minute drive away.
The population of Mirrabooka is 7,933 with a density of 1,587 persons per square km. The suburb has varied population profile with established couples and families representing 17.1% of the total residents, followed closely by independent youth at 16.7%, then older couples and families at 14.7%.
Annual growth of the suburb is sitting at 11.4%. Based on settled sales as of 28 February 2022, the median land price in the suburb is $245,000 (reiwa.com.au).
