Erskine

Erskine is a suburb of Mandurah in the City of Mandurah, established in 1971 with a land area of approximately 8 km². It is approximately 84 kilometres from the Perth CBD and bound by Old Coast Road to the west and the Peel Inlet to the east. It is surrounded by the suburbs of Dudley Park, Falcon, Halls Head and South Yunderup.

A drive to the Perth CBD will take roughly 55 minutes down the Kwinana Freeway, and a trip on the train will take just under 1.5 hours to get into the Perth CBD on the Mandurah Line.

Residents of Erskine enjoy a relaxed, laid-back lifestyle close to the beach. The suburb features a lifestyle village, retirement village, the Mandurah Quay Resort and Function Centre and the Len Howard Conservation Park – popular for its 6km Erskine Nature offering fantastic views all year round and a great spot for birdwatching. Another family-friendly spot to spend your weekend at is the Osprey Waters Foreshore Reserve – a nature-based playground with a large tree house nest, a log maze, rock climbing wall, monkey bars and a rope climbing area. Kids of all ages will enjoy a day out at this playground.

Erskine is home to a local brewery – Boundary Island Brewery born from two Mandurah families who love great beer, beautiful food and a great atmosphere. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner six days a week and you can get to the brewery by boat, car, bus, foot or bike. You can even enjoy an overnight stay at Mandurah Quay Resort across the road!

Locals make good use of the Erskine Central Shopping Centre, which has a Coles for grocery needs and 13 speciality stores including a Liquorland, Red Dot, medical centre, swim school, 24-hour gym and a Muzz Buzz. For larger shopping trips, Old Coast Road provides good access to Mandurah Forum Shopping Centre with a drive there taking roughly 7 minutes.

There are no schools within Erskine so residents will need to travel to surrounding suburbs. Nearby schools include Halls Head College, Frederick Irwin Anglican School, Halls Head Primary School, and South Halls Head Primary School. For childcare, there is a Great Beginnings Centre in Halls Head.

The population of Erskine is 5,051 with a density of 1,333 persons per square km. Of the families in Erskine, 23.6% were couple families with children, 62.9% were couple families without children and 12.6% were one parent families.

Annual growth of the suburb is sitting at 5.9%. Based on settled sales as of 27 June 2022, the median land price in the suburb is $195,000 (reiwa.com.au).
