Greenwood is approximately 18 kilometres from the Perth CBD, located in the City of Joondalup. It is bordered by Mitchell Freeway, Hepburn Avenue, Wanneroo Road and Warwick Road. A 19-minute drive will get you into the city centre, and a 10-minute drive will get you to the local beach. If you need public transport, there are local bus services providing connections to Greenwood Train Station from Whitfords and Warwick Stations.

The main shopping centre in the suburb is Greenwood Village Shopping Centre. The centre includes a Coles supermarket and a range of other retailers, including a butcher, bakery, 24-hour gym, greengrocer, pharmacy, pizza shop, newsagent, barber and post office. Located towards the north-western corner of Greenwood is the smaller Coolibah Plaza Shopping Centre which trades seven days a week. There are 10 businesses in the centre including a Farmer Jacks supermarket, newsagent, bakery, fish and chip shop and both a Malaysian and Thai restaurant.
Other amenities in neighbouring suburbs include the Glengarry Private Hospital, Kingsway City Shopping Centre, the Warwick Stadium sporting complex, the Madeley Family Practice medical centre, and four churches – with Catholic, Uniting, Christian and Anglican all represented.
Greenwood is located nearby several primary schools and secondary schools with private and public options available. Within the suburb itself you have the option of three primary schools and one high school, namely Greenwood Primary School, West Greenwood Primary School, Liwara Catholic Primary School, and Greenwood College. There is also the well-renowned Nido Early School providing care for children aged 6 weeks to school age.
The population of Greenwood is 10,043 with a density of 1,891 persons per square km. The suburb is heavily populated with couples and families – mainly older at 24.7%, followed by established at 14.7% and maturing at 13.7%. In total, representing 53.1% of total residents.
