Hammond Park is a relatively new suburb, previously part of Banjup. It is approximately 27 kilometres from the Perth CBD and is located within the City of Cockburn. In early 2021 construction began for the Frankland Park Sports and Community Facility. The multipurpose facility will include amenities to cater for the Hammond Park Junior Football Club and Melville Braves Baseball Club. The facility will comprise club and function spaces, food and beverage areas, toilets, change rooms, toilets and showers. External sporting facilities will include two fenced grass ovals with lighting for AFL use, a baseball batting cage, exercise equipment and a spectator viewing area. A carpark for 151 cars will have shade trees and lighting. Construction of the facility is expected to be completed in early 2022.
Hammond Park offers families the choice between two primary schools and one high school. Catering for young families, there is the public Hammond Park Primary School as well as the private Hammond Park Catholic Primary School. Close by is also Mater Christi Catholic Primary School, which is in the neighbouring suburb of Yangebup. The high school in the suburb is Hammond Park Secondary College, and options nearby are Atwell College in Atwell, and Emmanuel Catholic College in Success.
The population of Hamersley is 4,886 with a density of 1,136 persons per square km. The suburb is heavily populated with maturing couples and families representing 25.3%, followed by established couples and families at 16.8%, then independent youth who represent 15.4%.
